Your input could help close housing disparities gap in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – You have a chance to help find solutions to closing the gap in housing disparities in La Crosse.
The Housing Advocacy Committee is addressing safe and affordable housing for everyone in our community.
It’s led by Habitat for Humanity – La Crosse Area and works in collaboration with our local colleges, Couleecap, UW Extension, and other organizations.
The committee said when it comes to access to safe and affordable housing there is a huge gap between the rich and those who are poor and/or part of a minority, and it has only increased over the years.
So the Housing Advocacy Committee created a survey to get feedback from the community, asking things like, “what are the biggest challenges you face with housing?’
There is no easy fix to this problem but with your responses committee members will have a better idea of how to take action.
“You don’t want to go out there and start providing solutions for problems when you aren’t exactly sure what they are. The people that can provide answers to those problems are the people who are faced with those problems,” said Kahya Fox, Habitat for Humanity – La Crosse Area Executive Director.
