YMCA construction projects are moving forward
More than 70,000 square feet added so far
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A big step forward Monday for construction on the new addition at the Onalaska YMCA.
Work has been going on at both the north location and La Crosse Y for the past six months.
Between those two buildings and the new teen center, more than 70,000 square feet has been added to Y facilities. One big wall came down at the Y north today to create more space for its growing membership.
“So we’ve been in this facility for about nine years and it was necessary because of the growth that we’ve had. So we served about 30-thousand- 500 members last year between oue two facilities amd we’re seeing really steady growth at both facilities,” said YMCA Executive Director Bill Soper.
3,000 square feet is being added to the wellness center at the Y North. Both the projects in Onalaska and La Crosse are expected to wrap up in late May.
