Yard waste and brush site opens Monday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — This is looking like a great weekend to get outside and get going on some spring yard work.
The city of La Crosse will open its Yard Waste and Brush site this coming Monday, March 19th.
The site will accept leaves, grass clippings, and garden plants. Brush is limited to twigs with a diameter no larger than 8 inches.
Large pieces of wood such as stumps and logs cannot be accepted at the yard waste site. Instead, they can be taken to the La Crosse County Landfill. They accept more than leaves and branches this year.
New this year, the site will accept food waste. Food waste can consist of uneaten fruit and vegetable matter, grain items, coffee grounds and filters, and egg shells.
Brandon Shea, La Crosse recycling coordinator, explains, “we’ll be accepting yard waste, garden waste any food waste you have. Vegetable waste, but no proteins such as meat or cheese or dairy or anything like that.”
Keep in mind this site is for La Crosse residents only.
Monday-Friday – 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday – 11:00a.m.-4:00 p.m.
