Xcel proposes adding 750 charging stations for electric vehicles in Wisconsin and Minnesota

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) — Xcel Energy wants to add more charging options for electric vehicles.

In a release Tuesday, the company outlined a proposal to work with communities to add 750 high-speed charging stations in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

“Interest in EVs continues to grow and the expansion of both private and public charging will help customers address range anxiety and achieve significant savings on their transportation costs while delivering cleaner air for everyone,” said Mark Stoering, president of Xcel Energy-Wisconsin and Michigan.

Also part of Xcel’s proposal, an expansion of the EV Accelerate at Home program, which provides local electricians a turn-key option for installing at-home chargers, as well as a 32-vehicle school bus pilot program in Minnesota.
