LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Xcel Energy crews are working to restore power to more than 1,500 customers affected by outages that began shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday, the company says.

The cause of the outages has not been determined, Xcel said in a news release at 4 p.m. The failure is affecting customers in the La Crosse, La Crescent and Hokah, Minn., area.

“Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” the release says.

Although the news release says the outages affect 1,526, the company’s outage map puts that figure at 2,959.
