WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — Winona State University has postponed homecoming until spring because of continuing uncertainty about the COVID-19 pandemic, although athletic events planned for the weekend of Oct. 8-11 still are scheduled.
“We understand this postponement represents a significant disappointment to a great many Warriors, near and far,” said WSU President Scott Olson.
But suspending the event and associated activities will help reduce the spread of the virus, Olson said.
The postponement includes all alumni and alumnae reunion activities, as well as the parade, Warrior Waddle, Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet and Distinguished Alumni banquet. In addition, no Warrior Game Day Experience events will be held in fall 2020.
At this time, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s recently announced fall season delay doesn’t affect sports events scheduled for the weekend.
