World Autism Day celebrated in La Crosse with awareness and advocacy
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Autism’s impact on La Crosse and beyond is being recognized.
Staff from Chileda stopped at UW La Crosse, Viterbo and Western Technical College day to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day.
Chileda is an organization dedicated to helping children with cognitive and behavioral challenges.
The organization provided facts about autism and ways to spread awareness.
Misconceptions about the disorder make days like today important.
“A lot people see like the media version or nothing at all at all, so I think it’s kind of important for people to know something about it,” said Chileda Direct Sport Professional Elizabeth Petruzzello.
