LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Teen girls in La Crescent are learning about career opportunities in construction.
Several organizations and businesses worked together to put on the “Women at Work” event Wednesday.
Local teen girls visited two local construction sites to learn about the various jobs that are available.
“It might be a little daunting at first to how such a big structure gets put up with humans. Because it so large. But we really just want to gain more awareness,” said Abby Voss, a member of Wieser Brothers general contracting human resources department.
It is estimated that only one in 20 construction workers is female.
