Woman, three children injured in crash Saturday
29-year-old Elroy woman fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree
HILLSBORO, Wis. (WKBT) — An Elroy woman and three children were injured Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident.
Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said 29-year-old Kathryn Madden, of Elroy, fell asleep at the wheel on Lovers Lane north of Leverenz Road in the Town of Hillsboro.
Authorities say Madden’s vehicle crossed the center line, entered a ditch and hit a tree.
Spears said Madden and three minor children were injured in the accident. Madden and two of the children were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro. The third child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by a private vehicle.
Authorities say Madden was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. Hillsboro Fire Department, Hillsboro Ambulance and Wonewoc Ambulance helped at the scene.
