Woman dies after slipping under moving train
TOWN OF NORTH FREEDOM, Wis. — A 66-year-old woman died after she was hit by a train in the town of North Freedom.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Mid-Continent Railway Museum around 4:30 p.m. Saturday for reports someone hit by a train.
The victim, who volunteered at the museum, was stepping off the train when she slipped and fell underneath the locomotive as it began to move.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said a conductor, two brake people and an engineer were on the train at the time, but did not see the woman.
The victim’s name is being withheld until her family can be notified.
The accident remains under investigation.
