Wisconsin unemployment rate falls for second month
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – For the second month in a row, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is down.
According to the bureau of labor statistics, the unemployment rate is 2.8%.
Over the past year, more than 70,000 people in Wisconsin have gotten a job.
Still, small businesses are struggling to hire.
Heather Boushey, a member of President Biden’s Council of Economic Advisors, tells News 8 Now the labor market is creating new challenges for employers.
“Businesses are having to work harder to recruit employees because we’re getting close to that full employment mark,” said Boushey.
Wisconsin is one of 37 states where the unemployment rate fell in both February and March.
