Wisconsin state dance competition held at La Crosse Center
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Athletes from all over Wisconsin met at the La Crosse center Saturday to compete in the state dance championships in jazz, poms, and kick categories.
The event featured nearly 100 teams, including some from the local area like West Salem, Sparta, GET, Aquinas, Central, Tomah and Onalaska. Some teams attending today began their season as early as June.
Organizers say they are seeing this event grow year after year.
“We are definitely growing. There are more and more dance teams every year. We have considered going to four regionals it’s just difficult to find sites for all of them but definitely the sport of dance is on the rise,” said Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches President Susan Putra.
