Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Barnes visits La Crosse after Senate run announcement

Barnes calls the U-S Senate "broken."

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Mandela Barnes is taking his campaign for U.S. Senate on the road.

Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor stopped in La Crosse Thursday morning for a meet and greet.

The Democrat is one of nine running for the seat currently held by Republican Ron Johnson.

Barnes calls the Senate “broken.”

“It isn’t delivering for people in the state of Wisconsin. And right now we are in a period of recovery. So it’s important for us to do everything we can possibly do to support our small businesses,” Barnes said.

Johnson has not said whether he is running for re-election.
