Wisconsin Idea Seminar stops in De Soto
DE SOTO, Wis. (WKBT) — More than 40 UW-Madison faculty and staff stopped at De Soto Middle and High School Thursday as part of a statewide tour.
The Wisconsin Idea Seminar is a chance for new UW System staff to learn about the state and the people that call it home.
The five day tour will also make stops at Ho-Chuck Nation historical sites, a lock and dam in Genoa and a medical clinic in La Farge.
By better understanding the state, the hope is the educators can better teach their students.
“We wanted to see what it feels like and looks like to be at a rural school, and I put my ear to the ground and experts on campus and throughout the state said you have to go visit De Soto High School Middle School,” said Katherine Reiland, Director of the Wisconsin Idea Seminar at UW-Madison.
The annual tour started in 1985.
