Wisconsin Governor Walker touts tax holiday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker visited Onalaska Tuesday, ahead of the sales tax holiday.
Governor Walker stopped at Kohl’s to encourage families to shop for school supplies.
The sales tax holiday temporarily removes sales tax on school supplies, clothing and computers.
According to the National Retail Foundation, the average family spends more than $600 on school supplies per child each year.
“For any family, there’s that big surge of not just clothing, supplies, I mean you’ve got kids this age, you guys end up getting boxes of Kleenex, you’ve got to take other back to school. There’s a whole bunch of things more than just crayons and pencils and notebooks,” said Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
The sales tax holiday in Wisconsin runs from tomorrow through Sunday.
