Wisconsin food banks can benefit from vension donations as gun deer season opens
Processors across Wisconsin will process deer for donation
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Hunters can help people in need once again this year.
WAFER will once again get venison through the Wisconsin DNR’s Deer Donation Program.
Hunter can donate deer at participating processors around the state.
And the meat is then distributed to food pantries like WAFER.
Your donation can have a big impact on the community.
“Our patrons really look forward to getting that. It’s not something that we have we have very often and it’s not something that comes in large quantities. And it’s a highly sought item,” said WAFER executive director Erin Waldhart.
Details about processors that are participating on the donation program is available on the Wisconsin DNR website.
And as a reminder, any deer harvested in a CWD infected county must be sampled for CWD before or at the time of donation.
