Wisconsin farmers should read before using pesticides

A Wisconsin state agency says farmers should not use pesticides before reading what’s on the label to prevent harm to their crops.

The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says labels tell farmers when and where they can apply pesticides, and how much they can use.

The agency says labels can change at any time because of new science, new uses and sometimes court action.

Farmers are advised to check the latest application rate, pre-harvest interval and other information on the label and make sure to use pesticides within the limits.
