Wisconsin DNR reminds drivers watch for deer on roads
Crashes can happen any time of the day
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Drivers are being asked to pay close attention for deer trying to cross area roads.
Deer are especially active this time of year during their mating season.
Drivers are reminded to be aware of sudden movements they may see on the side of the road.
DNR officials say crashes with deer can happen at any time of day.
“Deer are entering the breeding season and the bucks are more active moving throughout the day. as well as during the evening hours, which is more typical, and because of that they can be found more frequently crossing roadways,” said Wisconsin DNR wildlife supervisor Scott Walter.
Walter says if you do hit a deer on the roadway, pull off to the side and then call local law enforcement so they’re aware of the accident.
