Wisconsin Democrats host budget discussion in La Crosse

Talking points include education, environment

Wisconsin Assembly Democrats hosted a budget discussion Wednesday in La Crosse.

The state leaders stopped by Jules Coffee House Wednesday afternoon to hear residents’ opinions on Governor Scott Walker’s proposed biennial budget. Key talking points were public and higher education, and environmental impacts on the Coulee Region’s community and economy.

Attending lawmakers say now is the time to make your voice heard.

“There’s just a couple months left before the budget will be passed, so this is a key timeframe for people to interact with their legislators, to make sure that they’re aware of the issues, and that we can hear from them about what their priorities are for this particular budget,” said Democratic State Representative Peter Barca.

Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca of Kenosha, Dianne Hesselbein of Middleton, Mark Spreitzer of Beloit, and Onalaska’s Steve Doyle attended the public discussion.
