Wintry weather makes for dangerous driving in much of Iowa(AP) – Officials in parts of the Midwest and Great Plains are urging people to stay inside amid a winter storm that’s already caused trouble at airports in Chicago and Kansas City.

The storm is expected to start moving into the Northeast, where it could dump up to a foot of snow by Sunday in some areas.

The storm is bringing blizzard conditions to Iowa, Minnesota and the Dakotas.

Wind gusts could top 50 mph on Saturday afternoon.

In the Dakotas, parts of Interstate 29 and Interstate 94 are closed and authorities are advising people to stay off secondary roads.
