Winona Water Day provides environmental education
WINONA, Min. (WKBT) — A brand new event was held in Winona on Saturday when Sustain Winona and the Izaak Walton League of America celebrated the first Winona Water Day at Levee Park downtown.
According to Sustain Winona, Winona Water Day is a chance for people to learn about how they are connected to water and how they can help protect it.
Shuttles were available to take people to Saint Mary’s University and Gilmore Creek to learn more about water and the environment.
“Winona alone has over 11 impaired surface water sources in the county, so it’s good to be out there and monitoring them and keeping track of that data,” said Lauren Jensen, who works with Sustain Winona.
