Winona Transit now fare-free until May 8
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – Effective immediately, the Winona Transit Service is fare-free until May 8.
The collection of all fares has been suspended in order to help limit the transmission of COVID-19. The Winona City Council approved the action at its meeting yesterday.
Riders will not have to pay for any rides on the service until Friday, May 8. April bus passes will be honored in May. The city will announce any updates or changes closer to the date.
Riders are urged to practice physical distancing, wear face masks or coverings, move directly to and from their seat, and avoid touching any unnecessary surfaces or close interactions with others as much as possible.
Buses are running on normal routes. Schedules have changed: Drivers have eliminated every third route in order to clean and disinfect the buses. An updated, viewable and printable schedule can be found at cityofwinona.com.
Although City Hall remains closed to the public, all of the city’s essential services are working normally. Visit cityofwinona.com and facebook.com/cityofwinonacovid19 for regular updates on the city’s response to COVID-19.
