Winona State men’s basketball dominates Crookston in first round of NSIC Tournament

Women's team fends off late Moorhead run to advance as well

Winona State men’s and women’s basketball each won their first round games in their respective NSIC Tournament on Wednesday night.

Andrea Lo Biondo scored Winona State men’s first 11 points and finished with 16 to lead the Warriors to an 88-57 win over Crookston.

The men’s team faces Minnesota-Duluth Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The women’s team shot almost 54 percent as a team in an 82-77 win over MSU-Moorhead. Taylor Hustad led the Warriors with 32 points.

Winona State had a 17 point lead but the Dragons whittled it down to five by the final whistle.

The women’s team will face Sioux Falls in the Sanford Pentagon on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
