Winona seeks nominees for art awards

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — The Winona Fine Arts Commission is seeking nominations for its 2020 Fine Arts Commission Awards.
The awards are intended to recognize individuals, either living or deceased, and organizations for their support of and/or contributions to the arts in and around Winona.
The awards criteria stipulate that nominees must:
• Organize or practice in an art-related field such as exhibits, film festivals, visual arts, music, dance, readings, concerts, cultural events, performances and theater.
• Contribute to the artistic and cultural life of the Winona area for five or more years.
• Have benefited the Winona or Winona County area.
The FAC will give special consideration this year to individuals or organizations that have responded to the crisis with important current actions and contributions to the arts and culture community.

The commission will give special consideration to nominees who have not received this award in the past.
The nomination deadline is Friday, Aug. 28.
Nominations should be sent via email or regular postage to Lee Gundersheimer, arts and culture coordinator for the city’s Park Recreation Department, with the name of the individual or organization and a brief nominating statement about how the candidate meets award criteria.
