Winona non-profit gives back to homeless in community
WINONA, Min. (WKBT) — Planned Humanity gave out Blessing Bags filled with supplies for homeless adults and displaced families on Sunday.
The bags had products for hygiene, first aid and personal safety, with crisis line phone numbers included as well.
Over 40 bags were handed out. The bags are meant to be able to go anywhere with ease.
“When you don’t have a place to call home and you’re carrying around a backpack, it’s just not logical to carry around shampoo and conditioner. It’s very hard, and you can’t just go shower anywhere. So, these are meant to be small enough to be portable and useful,” said Machelle Benson, the founder of Planned Humanity.
Donations to the event were provided from area businesses.
