Winona hockey settles for tie after lead slips away

A third period lead slipped away from Winona hockey Thursday, resulting in a 3-3 tie with Faribault at Bud King Arena.

Faribault led 1-0 after the first period, but goals form Eric Paulson and Kai Kovala gave Winona a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

The Falcons then scored two goals in the third to take the lead, but Paulson slotted the overtime-forcing goal at the 16:42 mark. Both teams went scoreless in overtime.

Winona is now 4-4-1.
