Winona County Fair canceled because of COVID-19 concerns
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – The Winona County Fair Board canceled the 2020 fair because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The board met last night to review the Minnesota Stay Safe Plan Gov. Tim Walz issued last week. The decision to cancel was made because of the small possibility that large public gatherings would be allowed by July 8, the scheduled first day of the fair. The board was also encouraged by Winona County officials to cancel for the health and safety of everyone involved with the event.
“Please know the fair board realizes the financial impact this decision has on the many attractions and vendors booked for the 2020 fair, and the disappointment to be felt by the people who enjoy attending the fair. This is however the responsible decision to make for the protection of everyone,” a board representative said.
The 2021 Winona County Fair is scheduled for July 7 to 11.
