Winona Community Warming Center opens Friday
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — With cold weather on the way, a local warming center is preparing to open for the winter.
The Winona Community Warming Center will open Friday for the season.
The space will double their capacity from previous years, thanks to a donation of beds Tuesday.
The addition capacity will allow for 20 guests.
The need for more resources may come from building trust in the community.
“Because the word’s out that it is safe here, I think that’s why so many more people are feeling that they can come here,” said Lynette Johnson, Winona Community Warming Center outreach coordinator.
The Center, located in the basement of the Community Bible Church on 3rd Street in Winona, opens nightly at 9 p.m. from November 1st to March 31st.
