Next Chance Of Rain Not Until Thursday
Tonight’s Forecast Low: 58F / Tuesday’s Forecast High: 85F…
After highs in the 80s across the region today, expect temps to drop quickly after sunset… with overnight lows in the 50s for most, perhaps even some upper 40s in traditional cooler spots north and east. The reason the air is cooling off so quickly is because it’s so dry, so humidity levels have been comfortable since the weekend.
A large and expansive dome of high pressure to our west will keep the storm track to our north/east Tuesday and Wednesday. As a result, expect dry days with seasonably warm highs in the mid 80s… and humidity will remain on the low side.
It’s no secret we need some rain. In fact, much of the viewing area is seeing 2021 precipitation deficits in the 4″ to 6″ range… including 5.80″ below average at the La Crosse airport. Only a trace of rain has fallen at the airport so far this month.
Looking Ahead… Our next chance for rain (about a 40% chance at this time) comes with a disturbance on Thursday that will could spark some scattered showers and t-storms. Thursday will also be quite warm and humid, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s… perhaps even hotter if the rain chances hold off until later in the day.
Decreasing clouds Friday, with highs in the mid 80s. Saturday looks dry as well, with highs closer to 80F. Slight chance of showers and t-storms Sunday, with highs in the low 80s. Slightly better chance for scattered showers and storms next Monday, as we welcome in “astronomical” summer. Just isolated t-showers possible next Tuesday, with highs in the upper 70s.
Have a good Monday evening! -Bill Graul
