Why aren’t News 8 Now anchors wearing masks?

Good question.  Here’s the answer.

The mandatory mask order in Wisconsin specifically includes an exception that allows broadcasters to remove their mask while talking to an audience.  We want you to be able to clearly hear what we’re saying.  For that reason, our anchors and reporters do not wear masks during our newscasts.  We’ve also made some changes to the way we present our newscasts to allow for additional social distancing as part of our continuing effort to keep our team healthy.

While our newscasts are an exception, we do wear masks at all other times while working in our building.  And like so many businesses are doing right now, we’re taking extra steps to make sure our work environment is clean and safe for all WKBT staffers.

Thanks for asking.  And thank you for being a News 8 Now viewer.  We’ll continue doing our best to keep you informed on what’s happening in our community.
