Western Technical College teaches students, community about plants during first ‘Horticopia’
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A tree-themed event is getting Western Technical College students thinking green.
The inaugural ‘Horticopia’ event combines Earth and Arbor days with snacks, hands-on activities, and a tree planting demonstration. Students from the College’s Landscape Horticulture, Early Childhood Education, and Foundations of Teacher Education programs spent the afternoon teaching others about the importance of different plants.
“Goal here is to just educate the community about hopefully planting and planting trees or growing gardens, just learning more about our Earth and our environment,” said Western Technical College student Giovanni Donisi.
Organizers say Wednesday’s event was a test and it could become a regular event if it’s successful.
