Western Technical College reveals plans to build POW-MIA memorial
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Western Technical College revealed its plans for a Prisoner of War-Missing in Action memorial.
It’s being proposed as a memorial for all Wisconsin POW and MIA service members. The campus is working alongside one of the former Directors of the Wisconsin Veterans Affairs Department to create what would be the first POW Memorial in La Crosse County.
“That’s how the plan is unfolding, and then we engaged our students who have created a bunch of designs. So we’re just in the review and designs phase, but I think it is important for our county. I think it’s important for the state of Wisconsin,” said Western Technical College President Roger Stanford.
The POW Memorial would be built along 7th Street, in the courtyard near Western’s Integrated Technology Center.
