Western Technical College food pantry expanding to include fresh produce

Produce available last Wednesday of each month

A food pantry open to students at Western Technical College is expanding.

The Cavalier Cupboard is now offering fresh produce packages for eligible students. The fresh food will include items like potatoes, tomatoes and celery.

Food pantry organizers say the addition will provide more nutritious meals for students and families.

“We know that this is also expensive and hard to acquire, so if you are on a budget this could be a way to supplement. So this week you don’t have to buy produce and instead you can use your money to purchase other things,” said Western Technical College Community Engagement Coordinator Kari Reyburn.

The fresh produce will be available the last Wednesday of every month. The package will also come with a suggested recipe using the produce provided.
