West Salem withstands overtime road scare at Arcadia

West Salem boys basketball avoided a huge upset loss Monday night by fending off Arcadia on the road 69-62 in overtime.

The Panthers came into the matchup with a 7-3 Coulee record, which had them tied for first place with Black River Falls. Arcadia by contrast entered the game with an 0-9 conference record.

Arcadia erased a five-point deficit in the final 90 seconds. Michael Schweisthal sent the game into overtime with a three-point buzzer beater, but the Panthers were able to recover in overtime and pull away by seven.

Josh Hauser and David Lattos led West Salem’s winning effort with 21 points apiece.
