West Salem High School students cheer on football players as they head to state championship game

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) – West Salem High School students gave their football team a proper send-off to state on Thursday.

The Panthers are going to state for the first time since 2007.

The marching band and all the high school students made plenty of noise to ramp up the energy as the football team prepares to head to Madison.

The team’s coach, Justin Jehn, says the entire community is feeling the spirit.

“We’ve really played a tremendous season and it’s great to have the band come out and send us off and all our student body,” said Jehn. “It really signifies the community event that this game is.”

All the action happens at Camp Randall Stadium at 10 a.m.

The team is playing Monroe High School.

Win or lose, there’s a welcome home ceremony on Friday at 6 p.m.
