WAFER Food Pantry reopens after flooding

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - WAFER food pantry on Causeway Boulevard in La Crosse reopened Friday after suffering flood damage.

They estimate between one and a half and two inches of water flooded their entire first level.

As of now, they don't know how much food was lost, but they did have to turn away people Thursday morning until they could clean up.

"It was kind of heartbreaking to have to people, 'I am sorry, we cannot serve you today. You know, we have all this food that is intended for the people in our communities and we just couldn't do it," said Exec. Dir. Erin Waldhart.

Saturday's Food Fair at WAFER will be held as scheduled.
