Water advisory issued for Pilot Mound
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — State officials are asking residents of Pilot Mound to boil their drinking and use bottled water for infants after an emergency because the central Iowa town is now using an emergency well.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources issued the alert on Wednesday. Officials say the city has starting using water from an emergency well after the primary well couldn’t meet the demand. Since the emergency well hasn’t been tested recently, the water quality isn’t known.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice. Only bottled water should be used for babies under six months old. Residents are also being asked to conserve water because of a potential water shortage.
