WATCH: Racine County Sheriff holds press conference on 1999 cold case
RACINE, Wis. (WKBT) — Sheriff Christopher Schmaling held a Media Briefing regarding the 1999 Homicide of a young (until now unidentified) woman who’s brutally abused body was found in a corn field in the Town of Raymond.
The young woman’s identification was released, as was the name of the individual in custody for her death.
The victim’s body was found on the edge of the cornfield in Raymond in July 1999. Investigators believe she had been tortured. Authorities determined the woman they call Jane Doe was between 18 and 25 years old.
The victim’s body was exhumed in 2013 with the hope of using advancing technology to identify her. She was reinterred in 2015, 16 years to the day that her body was discovered.
