‘Washington Crossing The Delaware’ art piece on display at MMAM
Minnesota Marine Art Museum unveils six new art pieces Sunday
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — Art lovers in the area set their eyes on a piece of artwork Sunday all the way from the White House.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona unveiled six new art pieces on Sunday including works of art from J.G. Browns and one of the most important African American artists of the 19th century Henry Tanner.
However, one had many at a loss for words and is one of the most iconic images in American History.
“I am at a loss of words to describe how important this painting is: Emanuel Leutze masterpiece ‘Washington crossing the Delaware’ on display for decades in the west wing of the white house is now in the American wing of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum,” said Andrew Maus, executive director of Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
All new pieces of art work will be on display full time. The museum also hosts school tours and education programs.
