Volunteers, donations still needed for Onalaska Thanksgiving Dinner

1200 meals expected to be served in Dinner's 6th year

Thanksgiving is almost a week away and people in Onalaska are hard at work getting ready for their community dinner.

Organizers say they still could use donations and volunteers to help cover all of the responsibilities of next week’s event.

This will be the 6th year Onalaska will hold its own community dinner and they expect to serve about 1200 meals at the armory next week. They’ll also offer takeout meals and deliveries for people who are unable to leave their homes.

Organizer Tom Brewer says the dinner brings multiple benefits to the community.

“If we didn’t hold this event, there are several families that wouldn’t be able to celebrate thanksgiving together with their friends, family members and neighbors,” said Brewer. “The other part is a lot of the community members like to get together and say hey, we live in a great city and a great place so they just celebrate the fact that Onalaska is such a great community.”
