Volunteers deliver free Easter meals to Winona families

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — Local volunteers delivered free meals to people who otherwise might have gone hungry on  Easter Sunday.

Saint Mary’s University and Winona volunteers prepared and delivered more than 300 meals to people in Winona.

They made a traditional Easter dinner with ham, potatoes, vegetables and fresh yeast rolls for nearly 40 families.

It was all-hands-on-deck for the annual project, organizers said.

“Working with the brothers, we have some of them here serving, and the chef, I have all of my managers here volunteering and helping out, and some family members,” food service manager Curt Coshenet said.

This was the 18th year that Chartwells at Saint Mary’s University and Winona volunteer services worked together on this holiday project.
