Volunteers are delivering beds to area children

A few area children will sleep in heavenly peace tonight.

Volunteers from the organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) delivered hand-made beds to children in need.

A bunk bed was delivered to two sisters who had been sleeping in their mom’s bed.

Now that their beds are set up their room feels more like a bedroom, something many may take for granted.

“It means a lot because now I can finally sleep in my own room, and not just come in here and…look at it,” bed recipient, Ava Backlund, said.

But the president of the local SHP chapter, Mike Suchla, said these beds don’t just benefit the children.

“The kids, they’re healthier, they get a good night sleep. Mom, dad, get a good nights sleep because the kids aren’t crawling in with them. It’s just a better life for everybody involved.”

The organization still has 23 beds available at a first come first serve basis.
