Volunteer families bond while helping a good cause

Families in our community had the opportunity to bond in a unique way Saturday. Habitat for Humanity held Family Build Day for kids and their families. This was the Habitat for Humanity’s first ever Family Build Day.

Children between the ages of 8 and 15 worked on small projects with staff and learned about affordable housing while everyone 16 and older worked on a home that will be owned by a Habitat homeowner. No experience was necessary and all were welcome.

Organizers at Habitat for Humanity say they have more events like this planned for the future.

“We have Family Build Day today but we’ll also have Mother Daughter Build Day in May and then we’ll have a Father Son Build Day in June. So you’ll be able to check out our website and find out more information and we’ll have some other fun activities for families and parents to do together with their children,” said Habitat for Humanity La Crosse area executive director Kahya Fox.
