Viterbo University prepares for MLK day event
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The country recognizes Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday and people in the area are celebrating.
The Viterbo Fine Arts Center is hosting a community event Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to remember and honor King’s legacy. This year’s featured speaker will be Duchess Harris, who will deliver a presentation called ‘Chaos or Community: Fifty Years with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’
Organizers say this is all about spreading the values that King stood for.
“It really is to follow the principles and to reminded of the principles that Dr. King stood for with peace, love, reconciliation, those kinds of things,” said University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Interim Director Thomas Harris.
The event is free to attend and is open to the public.
