Viterbo to offer certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Development

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Viterbo will offer a Nonprofit Leadership Development certificate through a partnership with the La Crosse Community Foundation.

This certificate program includes eight workshops led by nonprofit community experts and Viterbo faculty members. New this year will be a nine-month mentorship component in which people enrolled in the certificate program will be paired with a mentor who has significant local nonprofit experience to make improvements to an area of the participant’s organization.

“The program intends to address balancing the demands of community needs and limited resources,” said Jamie Schloegel, chief executive officer of La Crosse Community Foundation. “Our region nonprofit professionals will receive a broad-based curriculum to help sharpen their skills to manage healthy operations and impactful programs, thus ultimately strengthening their missions and service to the greater La Crosse community.”

Sessions will be held on the second Thursday of each month, September through May, from 8 a.m.–noon on the Viterbo University campus. The classes, which include real-world case studies, small group discussions, and interactive presentations, were specifically designed to meet core competency areas identified by local nonprofit representatives. Community members will also be able to register for individual sessions if unable to participate in the full program.
