Viterbo hosts annual show choir competition

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) Viterbo University hosted its annual Viterbo 101 Show Choir Competition at the Fine Arts Center.

Fifteen local and regional high school and middle school show choirs performed in front of a panel of judges.

Along with a final score, the judges gave each team feedback about their performance.

Six groups will be selected to perform in the evening finals on Saturday.

One organizer says this gives students a chance to think about their future in music.

“Even students who live in our area haven’t been in our fine arts center or been part of our program. so the fact that we can show what we have to offer has recruited students for Viterbo University,” said Nancy Allen, a music professor at Viterbo University.

The final results are as follows:

Grand Champion: Omaha West Side Amazing Technicolor Show Choir
1st Runner Up: Bloomington Kennedy Rhythm in Gold
2nd Runner Up: La Crosse Central Grand Central Station
3rd Runner Up: North St. Paul Northern Lights
4th Runner Up: Bloomington Kennedy East Side Swingers
5th Runner Up: Colby Coalition

This is the 16th year Viterbo has hosted this event.
