Viterbo holds on to start nationals with a five-set win

SIOUX CITY, IA (WKBT)–It was a tough start for Viterbo, losing the first set to Oregon Tech, and forcing the second set to a 30-28 final, but the V-Hawks hung tough and started out their pool play with a win in 5.

Miah Garant lead all V-Hawks with 20 kills including the block to win the fifth set. The Senior said after the contest that she thinks a 5-game set is a great way to start out pool play.

“I think it’s a very good thing that we did go to five first game because it’s kind of an eye opener that we do have a target on our back,” Garant said.

“Even though we are number 2, any team can take sets from us any team can get points and that we have to just be grateful for where we are and not take anything for granted.”

The V-Hawks will take on Concordia Wednesday morning at 10:30.
