Viroqua Wins Legion D2 Championship

Viroqua needed to win two games on Sunday to win the Central Plains D2 tournament, and they did just that.

Viroqua beat Menasha earlier in the day, and topped Glenwood-Lowry in the championship game 4-1.

It’s the second time a team from Wisconsin has won the title.

Players returned home late Sunday night to celebrate with their community.

“The last weekend, we fell just short in the state tournament but we were lucky enough to get to the national tournament and make something happen there. We lost the first game but came back and won five in a row and that just shows how tough we are and resilient and we wont it,” said Jacob Huebsch.

“All that was on our mind was ‘hey we’re going to nationals!’  We didn’t thin about the possibility of winning it and I guess the rest is history,” said Andrew Kleiber.

Jacob Huebsch was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Jacob Huebsch was named the tournament’s MVP.
