Viroqua Catholic priest accused of sexual assault of a child appears in court
CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) – A Viroqua Catholic priest accused of sexual assault of a child appeared in Chippewa County Court today.
30-year-old Father Charles Richmond’s signature bond is set at $10,000
He’s facing Felony C charges for at least three violations of first or second-degree sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl while he was a faculty member at a Chippewa Falls High school.
The victim, now 19-years-old, reported the assault to a Chippewa Falls police officer on March 5th, according to the criminal complaint.
Richmond, who was ordained in La Crosse in 2015, was serving at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Viroqua until Monday, when the La Crosse Diocese became aware of the case.
He was immediately removed from all public ministry pending the law enforcement investigation.
