Veterans leave for Washington D.C. on Freedom Honor Flight
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- On the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, the Freedom Honor Flight is flying veterans from La Crosse to Washington D.C.
The Freedom Honor Flight took just over 2,300 veterans to the nation’s capital.
This year, 16 Korean War Vets and 77 Vietnam Vets are being flown across the country for a special day.
In Washington D.C. the vets will visit different memorials and be given a special tour of the City.
They’ll also visit the Arlington National Cemetery before coming home.
News 8 Now’s Jordan Fremsted is making the trip with them and will have special coverage on Monday.
